Most travellers know Cai Rang floating market in Cantho city but not Chau Doc floating market. This is a hidden gemstone of Mekong delta in the town of Chau Doc, An Giang province.
Very a few travellers coming here in early morning. By the time we were there, there were just us, 2 dirt riders, and another couple in sampan we met on the way to Chau Doc floating market.
Best time to see this floating market is at dawn, not earlier. The vendors start the day and ready for their business quite early but visitors obviously can’t enjoy seeing the trading activities in the dark.
Just like a small community in land, people know each other very well. Some families run the business for a few generations. Parents bring their kids along the business trip when their littles are on holiday! It could be a unique experience for the city kids but for these children, it’s something run in the family!
Life is simple and happy here !

The vendor boat has a 2-3 meter high bamboo pole on which they hang the fruits, vegetable or anything they sell.
Buyers can see what they are looking for easily from a distance and navigate through boats to get there!
Some boats have a little bonsai corner too!
Bargaining is allowed here but it’s normally quick and a win-win deal!
